At the end of the week or the term, someone — usually the principal — collects the registers, counts the absences, and produces whatever summary is needed.

Attendance records are complete by construction
A day's attendance is always closed — either the teacher submitted the register or the auto-mark system finalised it at the cutoff. There is no such thing as a missing register for a configured school day.
Records cannot be changed after the register is closed
Once the cutoff has passed, records cannot be edited without a principal override. If a correction is needed, the principal makes it with an audit trail showing who changed what and when.
